Anette Baldauf

Academy of Fine Arts Vienna


Anette Baldauf is a sociologist and cultural scientist. She works in collaboration with performance artists, film makers and architects on questions of public space, consumption and economic fiction. Her current projects deal with neoliberal policies and the shopping malls that define urban life today.

Her film The Gruen Effect (2010), co-directed with Katharina Weingartner, was screened internationally at architecture festivals in New York, Chicago and Budapest as well as in Austria.

Anette Baldauf has taught at New School University in New York, at A.pass in Antwerpen and at various Austrian universities. She held lectures and workshops at universities, municipalities and for artist collectives. She curated numerous exhibitions, above all for Generali Foundation Vienna.

Since 2012 she is Professor of epistemology and methodology of artistic production at the Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
