James Swinson

University of the Arts London (UAL):
Central Saint Martins

James Swinson is currently Course Leader for Research as an Academic Practice in the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CLTAD). James runs two units, which lead to a professional qualification in PhD supervision. He is also the Research Students’ Tutor at Central Saint Martins and has been supervising PhDs since 2001.

James Swinson is an artist and writer whose practice has involved documentary filmmaking, site-specific installation and art video. He has both a science and fine art background, which is reflected in his research interests. James'current writing, research and artwork production centres on the city: streets, architecture, space, place, time and identity.  I am particularly interested in transnational and interdisciplinary approaches to research.
